All NIH visitors must go through a security clearance at the NIH Gateway Center to receive a visitor's badge. Visitors may be required to pass through a metal detector and have bags/purses inspected or x-rayed. All visitors must present a government-issued photo ID to enter the campus.

The John Edward Porter Neuroscience Research Center (Building 35, and sometimes referred to as PNRC) is located at 35 Convent Drive, Bethesda, MD 20892 on the NIH main campus.

Visitor parking is limited, so we recommend you take public transportation, if possible. The campus is located on the Red Line at the Medical Center Metro stop.

Once you exit the Medical Center Metro Station proceed to the NIH Gateway Center for security clearance. After passing through the security checkpoint at the NIH Gateway center, visitors will be able to take a campus shuttle bus to Convent Drive.

To take the shuttle, visitors should exit the Gateway Center by proceeding down the ramp on the right and continuing toward the bus shelter on the circular drive. Board the "Campus Route, Red Line" shuttle and disembark at the 4th stop, "Convent Drive." Please see the links below for more information as well as the campus shuttle schedule.
